This procedure applies when installing solar

Do you have all the PPE required?

  • Steel capped boots

  • Hi-vis clothing

  • Mask (when required)

  • Safety glasses (when required)

  • Hard hat (when working with machinery)

  • Hearing protection (when required)

  • Safety harness (when required)

  • Sun hat (when exposed to the elements)

  • Sunscreen (when exposed to the elements)

  • Sunglasses (when required)

Hazards

  • Wet roofs - slips, trips, falls

  • Manual handling

  • Cuts & abrasions

  • Use of power tools

  • Exposure ti the elements - heat / cold / sunburn / windburn

  • Falls - Ladders or roofs

  • Vehicles - Work / Crane - etc

Control Measures

  • Harness where appliciable

  • Secure ladder

  • Cease work on roof when wet

  • Lift with knees, take rest if required

  • Ensure power tools are in safe working order

  • Keep lookout / communicate with operator / fence off if required

  • Wear hat, sunscreen and sunglasses

Procedure

  • 1. Install solar rails – 90 hold down brackets
    2. Install all earth bonds
    3. Run cable through roof
    4. Connect isolator on roof / install inverters
    5. Lift panel onto roof and bolt to rails
    6. Repeat step 5 until all panels are installed
    7. Connect panels to inverters
    8. Connect cable to switchboard
    9. Test panels / isolating switch
    10. Mark switchboards / isolator with required stickers
    11. Collect info for meters / paperwork
    12. Pack up site
    13. Clean up
    14. Complete paperwork – EWR and CEC forms
    15. Solar paperwork as required by office
