  • Has the candidate logged in on the face recognition system, changed into workwear ensuring possession of all the required PPE, checked cap lamp and self-rescuer, carried out pre-shift examinations and placed tally on board.<br>

  • Has the candidate carried out a personal check for contraband before making our way to mine entrance and explained the reasons why he was carrying out the search?

  • Did the candidate travel to the mine entrance on the designated travel route avoiding traffic hazards?

  • Has the candidate tested for gas at the entrance and at various points during his inspection.

  • Has the candidate checked all firefighting and first aid equipment?

  • Has the candidate checked roof, sides and floor for movement and can he explain the ground control method for the district?

  • Has the candidate checked lifting equipment such as beltmens equipment station, does he know the current colour coding for lifting equipment and the procedure for defective lifting equipment?

  • Does the candidate know the procedure for reporting any issues found with electrical or mechanical plant?

  • Has the candidate checked the ventilation is operating correctly and all airdoors are in order?

  • Has the candidate checked the safe havens to ensure all is in order i.e. Communications (DAC), escape and rescue plan in date, spare self-rescuers, bottled water, 1st aid and the compressed air?

  • Has the candidate carried out checks in the cross-cuts and the return roads for FSV clearances and can he state the minimum FSV clearances (height 2.28m, width 1.2 plus width of FSV and 300mm vertical clearance)?

  • Can the candidate identify the statutory levels allowed for methane as:<br>• 1.25%, isolate electrical switchgear, stop FSVs running and stop shot firing.<br>• 2% methane, withdraw workmen from the area.

Conveyor Inspections.

  • Have the candidate carried out the following checks on conveyors? <br>1. Conveyor drive, (guarding, temperature probes, oil leaks, cleanliness, smell or signs of smoke.) <br>2. Carried out a check on the conveyor and structure to include the belt rollers not damaged and that they are free from by coal dust or flammable materials such as paper. <br>3. Checked for the alignment of the structure, there were no stringers hanging loose from the conveyor belt and relevant nip points are adequately guarded. <br>4. Checked the lockouts and the pull wire was in place and not damaged, and the DAC system was operating? 5. Man riding conveyor checked the safety gate was in position and boarding and alighting platforms were safe. <br>6. Checked; dust suppression equipment, blocked chute probes, fixed carbon monoxide detectors at transfer points, and belt slip/alignment devices.

Reporting.

  • Has the candidate completed a report in the Regulation 14, Mines Regulations 2014 District Report Book?
