Cleaning Checklist

Cleanliness

  • Classrooms appear clean and tidy

  • Staff rooms are clean and tidy

  • Gym equipment is regularly cleaned and appropriately stored

  • Classroom toys and equipment are cleaned on a regular basis

  • Floors: No visible debris, dust, fluff, scuff marks, or removable stains. All floors present a uniform finish consistent with age, wear, and tear

  • All floors meet nonslip standards

  • Vertical and horizontal surfaces: No visible debris, dust smears, fluff, stains, or finger marks

  • Furniture, fixtures and fittings and equipment: No visible debris, dust smears, fluff, stains, or finger marks and polished accordingly

  • Electrical equipment e.g., screens and presentation boards: Insignificant amount of debris, dust, fluff, stains and finger marks

  • Bins: Clean and Not overflowing

  • External Areas: Free of litter and debris

  • Windows: No visible debris, dust, fluff stains and finger marks

  • Consumables: 100% of dispensers properly stocked, or additional stock is readily available on site if a dispenser become empty

Staffing

  • All staff are wearing the correct uniforms and identification lanyards/tags

  • Staff demonstrate appropriate knowledge/understanding of basic cleaning procedures

  • Compliance documentation has been received from cleaning staff

  • Minimum staffing as per the contract is present on site

  • Supervisor is available on site

Health and Safety

  • There is a process in place for ensuring scheduled cleaning activities are completed (supervisor checks)

  • Toilet check sheets are being completed

  • MSDS hard copies are available in all cleaning stores for all the chemicals present

  • Copies of MSDS is maintained within the clinic

  • When new products are used the infection control coordinator (nurse) is notified and MSDS is distributed

  • All chemical bottles / sprays are clearly labelled

  • There is a colour coding system in operation for cloths, mops, chemical spray bottles, buckets which differentiates between sanitary areas (red) and all other areas

  • Where concentrated chemicals are used, a chemical dosing system is in place

  • Employees are provided with an appropriate uniform and PPE

  • Safety signs are available and are used during the completion of cleaning activities

  • Continuation training is delivered to cleaning staff and records are available

Clinic - Sterilisation of Equipment

  • Equipment is sterilised in the clinic using the autoclave as needed

  • Disposable sterile equipment trays, dressings and gloves are available

Clinic – Communicable Diseases

  • Inclusion / exclusion policy is posted in the clinic

  • Parents are notified of student exclusion from school owing to illness

  • Communicable diseases are reported to DHA as per guidelines
