Sign Audit Criteria

  • Is signage identified in the Activity Method Statement (AMS) and/or via the Site Establishment Checklist?

  • Is appropriate type of signage in place in accordance with JH-APP-WHS-014-03 Barricading and Signage Selection and Installation Guidance Matrix? (e.g., Danger signs, Mandatory signs, Symbolic signs etc.)

  • Are Symbolic signs used where ever practical?

  • Are there signs and arrows indicating the direction of all exits?

  • Is emergency equipment clearly sign posted? (e.g., eye wash, Automatic External Defibrillators etc.)

  • Is firefighting equipment clearly sign posted? (including correct signage for particular extinguisher)

  • Are the signs used of the quality and size required in AS 1319:1994 Safety signs for the occupational environment?

  • Are exits clearly marked and free from obstruction?

  • Are the signs clean and able to be seen by those for which they are intended?

  • Are hazardous substance and dangerous goods storages clearly labelled with appropriate signage?

  • Are temporary signs placed in a manner that ensures they are able to withstand weather conditions?
