Checkpoints

  • Remove end protective cap, and verify if the valve position matches the indicator (open/closed)

  • Is the valve bore free of debris, dust, sand, or contaminants

  • Is the sealing contact area confirmed free of solid particles

  • Is the external surface free of corrosion and damage

  • Are the nameplate and tag details correct and legible

  • Are flanges (open ends) covered with weather-tight caps

  • Do handwheels operate smoothly and correctly across their full range

  • Is the hydraulic actuator stored in the correct position, and is the oil level as per the manufacturer’s recommendation

  • Are ball valves in the fully open position as specified

  • Are gate/globe valves in the fully closed position as specified

  • Are safety valves stored in the vertical position (e.g., PSV, ESDV)?

  • Has internal preservation (e.g., desiccants, inhibitors) been applied where applicable to protect internal surfaces

  • Are the valves stored with appropriate packing materials to prevent physical damage or contamination
