Framing Site Inspection

Compliance Documents

  • Have you received the QA document from the Carpentry contractor?

  • Has the Building Certifier completed and passed the frame inspection?

  • Has the Certifier/Structural Engineer sighted and signed off the Structural Steel?

  • Are the frame and truss plans onsite for this inspection?

Timber Framing

  • Has the floor plan layout been checked against the working drawings?

  • Timber framing - Is all timber used the correct treatment and grading?

  • Wall frames - Are wall frames set out square?

  • Wall frames - Are bottom plates straight?

  • Wall frames - Are top plates straight?

  • Wall frames - Are wall frames installed plumb?

  • Wall frames - Have studs been checked for straight?

  • Wall frames - Bottom plate fixings installed as per structural engineering plans?

  • Wall frames - Are lintel sizes/fixings/stud supports and straps as as per structural engineering plans?

  • Mid floor - Has the flooring sheets been glued and fixed to the joists in the correct manner to prevent squeaks/creaks?

  • Roof framing - Is the truss spacing correct as per truss plan?

  • Roof framing - Is all truss hardware installed as per truss plan?

  • Roof framing - Are rafters the correct size and spacing?

  • Roof framing - Is the roof plane bracing installed to the roof where required, is it installed correctly?

Tie Down and Bracing

  • Tie Down - Are tie down rods installed as per structural design?

  • Tie Down - Are tie down rods all tightened up with no play?

  • Bracing - Is all sheet bracing locations installed as per structural design?

  • Bracing - Is sheet bracing nailed off with correct fixings and centres?

Structural Steel

  • Is all structural steel installed in the correct location?

  • Is all structural steel installed the correct finish for the location/exposure?

  • Is all structural steel the correct size/profile?

  • Are all structural steel connections bolted correctly and tight?

Passive Fire Framing

  • Has all required solid blocking been installed to fire walls?

  • Are all sheet joints solid blocked on timber fire walls - if applicable?
