SAFETY

  • Safety and Environment Checklist being used in store daily (Black Book)

  • Safety startups on all hoists were completed this morning before vehicles were lifted. Recorded evidence was sighted

  • Hoists are clean, in good working condition, and meet the servicing schedule. (Hoists that are outside their service dates are not to be used until fully serviced.)

  • Date of next hoist service

  • Tyre changers and wheel balancers are presentable and in good working condition (unless tagged out for servicing). Safe Work Procedures are attached to wheel balancers

  • PPE signage is visible throughout the workshop

  • PPE is worn by all staff members as appropriate (i.e safety glasses, ear plugs, steelcapped boots)

  • Oils and other consumable liquids are stored appropriately

  • Spill kit is available onsite and correctly stocked

  • Flammable materials are stored in a locked cabinet

  • Workshop and access ways are free of trip and slip hazards. No items are left on the ground

  • Tyres are stored safely and stacked no more than eight high for car tyres or the equivalent height for SUVs/4x4s

  • Emergency exits are clearly signposted and free of obstructions. Exit doors are unlocked

  • Ask: Do team members know where the evacuation point is for the store?

  • Workshop tools & equipment are in safe working order unless tagged out for servicing

  • Axle stands and trolley jacks are clean, serviced and fully functioning unless tagged out for servicing

  • Wheel chocks are available and used where appropriate

  • Tyre inflation safety cages are in good condition and free of clutter. The safety regulator/valve is used for all relevant tyre inflations (i.e split rim or truck tyres)

  • Tyre racking has no signs of damage and ‘Safe Working Loads’ signage is visible

  • Safety Data Sheets are onsite and no more than 5 years old. (Electronic versions are allowed, but must be easily accessible to relevant staff.)

SAFETY GENERAL

  • Fire extinguishers are clearly signposted and free of obstructions (1.5m clearance on all sides)

  • All accidents, incidents and near misses being recorded, acted on and completed form stored in store for future reference.

  • All team members have completed Btrained induction module

  • All fire extinguishers were tagged in the last 6 months

  • Date of next fire extinguisher service

  • Test & Tag has been completed on all electrical equipment and no items are out of date

  • Date of next Test & Tag service

  • Appropriately qualified first aid officer onsite. Confirm and photograph certification

  • Torque sticks and torque wrench available and being used

  • A First Aid Kit is onsite. The kit is within its service date and contains no dirty, expired or empty items

  • Store vehicles (including forklifts) are maintained and serviced. Safe Work Procedures are attached to forklifts

ENVIRONMENT

  • Waste tyre collections are undertaken by an ATRA Accredited Tyre Recycler

  • TSA monthly reporting has been lodged for the previous quarter

  • The current TSA sticker is displayed near the store’s front door. Old stickers removed

  • Used oils, filters and rags are recycled and disposed of responsibly
