Safe Lifting Procedures

  • Are associates Lifting properly from the floor? <br>(Feet shoulder width apart, firm grip on the load, load close to the body, lift with the legs not the back in one smooth movement)

  • Are associates moving properly when depalitizing onto the conveyor? <br>(firm grip on load, load close to the body, lift with the legs, load at reasonable height for clear visibility, pivot with the feet- don't twist your back)

  • Are associates Lifting properly while making dynamic pics on an OP? <br>(elevate op so load is at chest height, firm grip on load, load close to the body, pivot with the feet, lower with the legs, bending at the knees with back straight)

  • Are associates lifting properly in the pick towers?<br>(firm grip on load, lower the load to chest, pivot with the feet, lower with the legs bending at the knees with back straight)

Knife Safety

  • Are associates using any knifes other than ones provided to open boxes, or cut shrink-wrap & strapping ( I.e.: Using a hunting knife to open Boxes) <br>

  • Are associates cutting away from themselves and keeping their hands away of the direction they are cutting? <br>

  • Are associates holding down the blade while cutting - disengaging the spring back safety feature?

MHE Operating Procedures

  • Are associates travelling in designated areas (Not on Pedestrian pathways? <br>

  • Are associates travelling with there load behind them giving them clear visibility.

  • Are associates stopping and honking at the ends of isles and in the corridors? <br>

  • Are associates honking while travelling to alert pedestrians that there is a machine coming? <br>( I.e.: walkies exiting trailers onto the dock) <br>

  • Are associates travelling at appropriate speeds for the loads they are transporting? <br>

  • Are Order picker operators wearing their fall arrest harness properly, and tethered at all times? <br>

  • Are Order picker operators Looking and honking while coming down from an elevated height to ensure no other associates are around or under their machine? <br>

  • Are Reach operators travelling with their loads at the proper elevation? <br>

  • Are circle checks being completed prior to operation of a piece of MHE equipment? ( complete and accurately) <br>

Loading Docks

  • Are the Dock Locks being used properly to secure trailers from Pulling away?

  • Are the dock lock indicator lights functioning properly or have they been overridden?

  • Are dock plates being utilized properly to access the trailer using a pump truck or a piece of MHE equipment?

  • are the loading docks areas clean and free of debris?
