What are the potential hazards while using this plant/equipment

  • Can anyone be ENTANGLED in the plant? e.g. Hair caught in moving parts, PPE caught in moving parts

  • Can anyone be CRUSHED? e.g. Material falling off the plant, plant falling over, being trapped

  • Can anyone be CUT, STABBED or PUNCTURED? e.g. Flying objects, moving parts, pinch points

  • Can SHEARING occur? e.g. Between two moving parts

  • Can FRICTION occur? e.g. Continuous contact with moving parts

  • Can anyone be STRUCK whilst operating the plant? e.g. Plant disintegrating, work pieces thrown out, moving parts

  • Can a hazardous PRESSURE be produced? e.g. Hydraulic hoses, radiator, etc

  • Can an ELECTRICAL hazard be created? e.g. Lack of insulation, contact with electrical conductors, poor earthing

  • Can an EXPLOSION occur? e.g. Gas emission, dusts, vapours, fuel tank

  • Can anyone using or near the plant SLIP, TRIP or FALL? e.g. Uneven surface, fall from a height, weather conditions

  • Are there ERGONOMIC - MANUAL HANDLING hazards associated with the plant? e.g. Poor posture, repetitive movements, awkward positions, strained movements

  • Can anyone be SUFFOCATED? e.g. Lack of oxygen, contaminated atmosphere

  • Does operation of the plant cause extreme TEMPERATURE changes? e.g. Fire, burns through conduction, convection, cryogenic burns

  • Can certain WEATHER conditions create a hazard? E.g. Hypothermia, heat stroke, wet conditions

  • Does VIBRATION of the plant create a hazard? e.g. Plant becomes unstable, causes physical problems for the operator

  • Can the plant emit toxic FUMES or VAPOURS? e.g. Exhaust fumes, chemicals

  • Does the plant emit RADIATION? E.g. X-rays, EMR, laser

  • Can operation of the plant create DUST? e.g. Explosive atmosphere, breathing hazard, decrease visibility

  • Can the plant become UNSTABLE during operation? e.g. Working on uneven ground, shifting load

  • Could LOSS of LOAD occur? e.g. Failure of ropes/slings, overloading, entanglement in surrounding structures

  • Is there a possibility of a manual handling injury? e.g. back injury , sore wrist or shoulder

  • Is there anything in the SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT that may produce a hazard? e.g. Power lines, low ceiling, other plant, storage areas

  • <br>Can CHEMICALS create a hazard? e.g. Leaking from plant, splashing, explosion

  • Are there ANY OTHER potential hazards generated by or during the use of this item of plant and/or any attachments?
