Samples and Protoypes

Blockwork

  • Check materials are as specified blocks, mortar, reinforcement, flashing, lintels, tie downs, grout filling and acoustic insulation!

  • Block-work samples are available on site!

  • Check mortar joint consistency and dimensions!

  • Check course gauge levels!

  • Check face quality of Blockwork!

  • Check location, sizes and colour of expansion joints!

  • Check cavity and parapet flashings!

  • Ensure pressed metal door frames are filled and that no distortion has occurred!

  • Ensure correct positioning of ties and built in work!

  • Ensure lintels have correct bearing on each side of the opening!

Brickwork

  • Check dimensional accuracy of wall and course set out!

  • Set a standard of quality with sample panel, sample wall or both

  • Check all bricks delivered to site against supplied samples reject any that do not fall within the clients agreed range!

  • Bricks are to be colour selected and colour mixed as required likewise with mortar!

  • Check specifications for any special requirements ie: mortar and brick testing, special jointing, control joints and ties!

  • Brickwork minimum standard is to be as set out in the appropriate code!

  • All bricks must be laid to a string line!

  • Set all door frame heads to be a common level throughout the building!

  • Bricks must be cut off with brick saw to all face walls!

  • Check building in of door frames!

  • Check tolerances on internal walls!

  • Check installation of shelf angles and lintels!

  • Check type, location and fixing of brick ties!

  • Expansion joint locations to be checked!

  • Cavities must be cleaned by either water or chains alternatively use cavity battens!

Carpet

  • Complete installation shall be smooth and free from wrinkles, bulges, tears, creases, defective seams and stains!

  • Ensure vinyl skirting is tightly tucked between carpet and wall and glued to walls!

  • Check skirting has not been scuffed by carpet layers!

  • Check that carpet has been cleaned and floor protection installed in finished areas!

Concrete

  • Check that mpa and slump tests have been carried out and concrete as within specified tolerances!

  • Check for work and reinforcement has been inspected and approved by engineer prior to pour!

  • Check that penetrations, conduits and services are in correct locations prior to pour!

  • Check all built items and ensure correct location!

  • Check curing agent is acceptable by engineer!

  • Check that dumpy level is on site to take levels!

  • Check that samples have been taken for testing!

  • Check that records are available of where test locations are!

  • Check that all exposed edges have been tooled while concrete is workable!

Glazing

  • Check all glazing for blemishes, cracks and imperfections!

  • Check glass for correct size, fully beaded and trade cleaned properly!

  • Check all installed glass to be properly bedded and checked for rattles or distortion!

Hydraulics
