I. Site Access

  • Can vehicles gain safe access to the site?

  • Can everyone get to their place of work safely and gain safe access to the welfare facilities?

  • Are pedestrian access routes segregated from mobile plant movements and free from obstruction?

  • Does access routes avoid the need for an individual to climbing up banks or inclines?

  • Are holes / openings protected with clearly marked and fixed covers to prevent falls?

  • Is lighting adequate, especially when work is being carried on after dark?

II. Welfare

  • Provision of welfare provided:-<br>Static<br>Towable<br>Mobile

  • Are toilets readily available flushable and stocked with toilet paper with the provision of cleaning materials?

  • Are there washbasins, with hot & cold running water soap and disposable towels?

  • Is there somewhere to change and store clothing including drying room?

  • Is there a place where workers can sit, make a hot drink and prepare hot food?

  • Is there access to drinking water and the provision of cups and kitchen consumables?

  • Is there a suitably stocked first aid kit, eyewash station, burns kit and DEB station for hand care?

  • Is there appropriate signage provided?

  • Is there a fire extinguisher and fire evacuation plan provided?

III. CDM Area work / Site compound

  • Is there suitable and sufficient storage facilities for plant, tool, materials and chemicals on site?

  • Is there a refuelling station set up with ground contamination protection?

  • Is the site compound clearly demarked, fenced off with adequate branded signage?

  • Can the site compound be made secure at the end of a working shift?

  • Is a smoking and mobile phone usage area established? (where the client permits smoking on site)

IV. Site Waste

  • Is there sufficient room on site to place a waste skip

  • Is there provisions to reuse / recycle waste materials on site

V. Plant & Equipment

  • All mobile plant logged onto the site plant register?

  • All Safety critical equipment e.g. confined space entry equipment, chains, trench boxes and other lifting equipment to be received with the appropriate examination certificate

  • All electrical hand tools leads and guards hand grips in place and not damaged badly worn or broken.

  • Portable transformers distribution boards, electrical leads, splitter boxes, RDC units, earth strops, lighting suitable and sufficient for the scope of the works.

  • Portable compressors appropriately sized to ensure that sufficient but not excessive compressed air output can be achieved

  • Portable plant including Excavators, Dumpers, Tele-handlers, received with examination certificate
