Role Description: Wellbeing Code of Conduct
Context and Background:

Sky Home Service signed the Time to Change pledge in 2017; this pledge makes a commitment to the mental, as well as physical, health of employees. The pledge commits Home Service to raising awareness about mental health and doing all it can to be an inclusive place to work.
Our vision is that talking about our mental health becomes a natural and everyday occurrence at Sky.
In creating Health and Wellbeing Champions, our objective is to create a network of trusted Sky employees which provides the energy for a positive change in attitudes towards mental health, and which keeps employee mental wellbeing on the agenda.
Aim of Role:
-
• Helping Sky to become a mentally healthy workplace where talking about our mental health becomes a natural and everyday occurrence.
• Be a key point of communication for the team / area / function they represent for all Time To Change information and ongoing campaigns.
• Be open to talk to any colleagues about the importance of mental health and breaking the stigma.
• Be able to listen to colleagues and refer them to the specialist support that is available for them, including topics such as cancer, autism, addictions and bullying.
Skills Required:
-
• Knowledge and/or experience of mental health issues (personal experience is preferable, however we welcome those who care for others or who are interested in mental health).
• A passion for ending the culture of silence and stigma surrounding mental health in Sky and across society.
• Capable of talking about difficult issues with others and showing empathy.
• Discretion, sensitivity and the ability to maintain confidentiality, even when outside work and speaking to friends or family.
• Motivated, flexible and able to work as a part of a ground breaking team.
• Able to identify opportunities for adding value to the health and wellbeing campaign.
• Any other skills which could help raise awareness, e.g. communication, storytelling, poster design, event management, etc.
Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
Role Commitments:
-
• Design, lead and/or take part in wellbeing activities.
• Have conversations with colleagues about mental health.
• Attend Time to Change training/workshops (where realistically possible around work and personal commitments).
• Ability to share personal experiences of mental health issues where possible (training and support is available for this).
Please ensure that your line manager is aware of and supportive of your role as a Health and Wellbeing Champion.

In fulfilling the role of Health and Wellbeing Champion, I promise to adhere to the following Code of Conduct.
I understand that failure to follow any of the following commitments may lead to action being taken.
I promise to:
• Be a role model in all I say and do in support of mental health and wellbeing
• Respect a colleague’s right to confidentiality at all times.
• Never share or discuss information obtained during the course of my role with others, whether at work or at home / with friends.
• Stay within my role description; listen and help colleagues by referring them to the specialist support that’s available to them.
• Promote Sky / Home Service as an inclusive workplace, where all colleagues can be themselves.
• Encourage and respect the contribution that colleagues make to their own care and wellbeing.
• Familiarise myself with Data Protection requirements and observe them in everything I do.
• Be accountable and take ownership, making sure I can answer for my actions or omissions.
• Promote a culture where any form of discrimination, intimidation, bullying or harassment is absolutely not tolerated.
• Keep my line manager informed so he/she knows what I’m up to.
