  • Smoke alarms must be installed as a minimum of one per floor, in front of bedroom doors and covering a path to the nearest exit, not being separated by doors. Smoke alarms need to be a minimum of 30cm from away from the wall to the edge of the alarm if installed on a ceiling. A minimum of 30cm down a wall from the ceiling to the edge of the alarm but no more than 50cm to the bottom edge of the alarm. And if installed on an Apex ceiling a minimum of 50cm away from the top of the apex to the near edge of the alarm but no more than 1.5m to the far edge of the smoke alarm. (refer to the manufacturers installation manual)
