Swim Supervisor Evaluation

Setup and Presentation

  • Supervisor is dressed in proper uniform and is wearing a swim suit.

  • Pool deck is set-up correctly for lessons with ample time and per SOP. (Window sills, cone sign/skill sheets, current swim grid on clip board, viewing gallery).

  • Supervisor communicates setup (equipment, benches & islands) and any changes to swim instructors before start of classes and ensures equipment is being taken care of.

  • Ensures instructors are at window sill between each class waiting for students with name sign and skill sheet cone.

  • Ensures all staff are in proper uniform (including guards wearing the rescue tube & fanny pack on their waist) and have a whistle available.

Pool Deck Energy & Feel

  • Aware of new students, makes them feel welcome, and escorts them to their Instructor sign.

  • Greets everyone enthusiastically by name. Demonstrates 5 foot rule and interacts and engages with parents.

  • Constantly aware of instructors energy and excitement during lessons. Uses cue cards used when necessary.

  • Maintains pool deck cleanliness to artistry standards (chairs and equipment neat and tidy). Towels are ready and available, the system binder and chem checks are getting completed.

  • Remains on deck and does not leave for an extended amount of time (Including office).

  • Spends majority of their time either interacting with parents, interacting with team members, or observing lessons (not standing at the check-in desk).

  • Ensures parents are not sitting in the window sills or on the side of the pool.

Effective Swim Lessons

  • Ensures swimmers are actively engaged 90% of the time, Instructors are doing correct circle swimming, SEDP on bench, teaching appropriate skills for the level, & have correct island distance.

  • High volume and energy coming from instructors (high 5's, fist bumps, etc.).

Lesson Wrap Up: Talent Show

  • Cues instructors 6 minutes before end of class with the talent show cue card, then cues parents and makes sure they go over to the end of their child's lane.

  • Ensures instructors are demonstrating to parents during talent show: showing skills worked on in class, narrated, gave homework & feedback sandwich.

  • Ensures all students exit the water and handed off to parents safely at the side of the pool immediately following the talent show.

Safety

  • Actively aware of safety during lessons and immediately corrects anything compromising it (Instructors back turned back, etc.). Classes are managed effectively with bottoms on bench. Quickly responds to assist instructors with trouble classes.

  • Are Lifeguards present?

  • Ensures guards are enforcing parents in the water during Open Swim.

  • Ensures guards are following the 5 minute rule, scans their zone in 10 seconds, and alert and attentive.

  • Ensures guards are enforcing all other rules in a friendly and professional manner.

Closing and Clean Up

  • All equipment is carefully & neatly put away including name signs & skill sheets. Pool deck is left in artistry condition.

  • Feedback is given to team members before they leave.

  • Grid report & changes are turned into the office for BOSS updates.
