White Powder Incident -Training Scenario Audit

You are informed that a package has been left in the Post Room / Reception Desk (Trainer to choose). Upon handing the package, one of the operatives has noticed a trace of white powder on the envelope

Points that should be considered/mentioned by person undertaking training Level of knowledge 1 to 10 . One being the lowest.

  • Post room staff / Reception staff to be told not to open or continue to touch the package

  • Evacuate the immediate vicinity, any staff who have been in contact with the package to be kept away from other staff, offered constant reassurance, await arrival from emergency services. Staff will be required to fully brief the Police.

  • Shutdown Aircon call the engineers

  • Cordon off area

  • Contact emergency services, Police / Ambulance

  • Inform all necessary staff.

  • Control to ensure first aid kits and grab bags available

  • Control to review CCTV

  • Ensure that all details of the emergency services are taken – Officer in charge / station

  • Ensure that any necessary photographs and evidence is preserved

  • Daily Occurrence Book fully completed

  • Full incident reports / paperwork is compiled
