  • Check that a signed copy of Form 10 has been sent to the local HSE office and that a copy is displayed on site.

  • Check employers and public liability insurance certificates are valid and on display.

  • Are Site Inductions being carried out?

  • Ensure site safety rules are displayed in a prominent position e.g. reception, canteen, site office etc.

  • Are Contractor RAMS in place, and signed by all operatives?

  • Ensure all site operatives, including sub-contractors have a valid CSCS/SKILL/COMPETENCE Cards.

  • Is there suitable welfare facilities on site and are these being managed?

  • Is there safe access and egress to all working areas of the site with suitable pedestrian and traffic management in place?

  • Are access routes adequatelly lit?

  • Has the work site got adequate third party protection?

  • Have appropriate signs/notices been erected around the site i.e. mandatory use of PPE, Incomplete Scaffolds, No Smoking, Traffic Management, Fire assembly, Fist Aid Points, Construction Traffic, etc

  • Ensure adequate supervision is provided for all activities on the site paying particular attention to work activities as undertaken by young persons and/or those which are high risk activities.

  • Are walkways free from obstructions and stored materials?

  • Are Permit to Work Systems in place? (Hot Works, Working at Height, Confined Space, Electrical Works, Lifting Operations, etc.)

  • Are all Temporary Works being managed and is there a Temp Works Register in place?
