CSCS Blue Card Roofer Skilled Worker Job Description and Responsibilities

Qualifications Required: Although formal academic qualifications are not essential, one must hold the relevant CSCS Roofing discipline certification as a minimum. Good communication skills (English) and an ability to understand technical drawings and understand safe system of work and public protection.

Role: A is someone who holds the established trade competency for the roofing industry, enabling them to lead or partake in erection, alteration and dismantling of roofing operations as covered by their training and assessment. They can also work on more complex roofing structures, when under the direct supervision of a suitably qualified CSCS Advanced Craft Supervisor . CSCS Roofing Blue Card holder must be able to work within a gang and on most standard roofing system and different roofing types and should be capable of supervising trainee roofers and/or labourers who are gaining experience towards their certification. In addition they should be capable of setting an example to less experienced colleagues whilst ensuring that jobs are completed in a timely manner using all the resources available to them.

Key Skills: CSCS Roofers Blue Card holders must be physically fit, have good communication skills, be punctual, organised, and diligent.

Responsibilities:

Assist loading and unloading of company vehicles with any resources required for the project.

Roofers are required to conduct they roofing work to product specifications as instructed by Black Hat/Charge Hand Roofer.

Use tools and materials safely in conjunction with the job-specific Risk Assessment and Method Statement, and in accordance with recognised roofing standards and current industry best practices.

Assist to ensure the safety of site operatives and members of the public where applicable by putting safety barriers in place and paying particular attention to others’ safety.

Maintain the serviceability of personal tools, personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.

Maintain knowledge, skill levels and Continual Professional Development to carry out duties effectively.

Typical day: Lots of physical work is guaranteed. Can vary widely depending upon the location and sectors you are working in e.g., street work, civils, engineering, power stations, railway, and underground infrastructures, offshore, events etc.
