SFG20 Procedure - EV car charger

  • Make sure all equipment, devices, and fittings are present<br>and in good condition (visual checks of the EV charger)<br>Is the unit free of any plastic melting, evidence of burning, damage to unit?

  • Check the rating of the overcurrent protection device, log<br> the rating and type of the protective device, confirm that<br> the ratings meet required standards.<br>

  • Check the location and existence of disconnecting means.<br>Is the isolator functional and in good condition?

  • Check that the cable from the isolator to the charging unit is free of damage, no insulation or conductor exposed.

  • Unit should be isolated and locked off in the case of a damaged cable.

  • If available, check condition of the charging lead from unit to car. Cable should have no signs of melting or burning, no insulation or conductor exposed.

  • Ensure that cable has been removed from use in the case that it is damaged.

  • Carry out EV charger tests with Megger.

  • While the unit is isolated and locked off, ensure electrical connections in isolator and in car charger are tight, take this opportunity to wipe seals and check cleanliness inside units.
