  • FIRE HAZARD - CHECK that the requirements of the fire extinguisher meet the fire hazard/risk to be protected.

  • SUITABILITY - CHECK that the extinguisher is the correct type, class, size and/or rating for the hazard to be protected.

  • ACCESSIBILITY - CHECK the extinguisher is clearly visible, readily accessible and in its assigned location.

  • SAFETY PIN AND ANTI-TAMPER DEVICE - CHECK that the safety pin is in place and the anti-tamper device is intact.

  • EXTERIOR AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS - CHECK that the extinguisher is clean and the operating instructions are legible.

  • SERVICE TAG OR LABEL - CHECK that the service tag or label is firmly attached to the extinguisher. If service is required, contact the manufacturer to arrange for servicing.

  • EXTERNAL DAMAGE - CHECK that the extinguishers, colour band including any attachments, are not damaged.

  • EXTERNAL CORROSION - CHECK that the exterior of the extinguisher is not pitted or damaged by corrosion.

  • OUTLET HOSE ASSEMBLY - CHECK that the hose is:<br>Securely fitted,<br>Nozzle is securely attached,<br>Assembly is free from obstruction, and<br>Hose shows no cracking or other signs of damage or deterioration.

  • PRESSURE INDICATOR - CHECK that the pressure indicator is legible, and registering within the operable range.

  • ACTUAL WEIGHT - WEIGH the extinguisher to determine that it is fully charged. Mainly critical for CO2 – Black Band, which has no pressure gauge to monitor if the extinguisher has been discharged

  • SIGNAGE - CHECK that the location sign is visible.

  • SUPPORT BRACKET - CHECK that the appropriate support bracket is securely attached.

  • DISCHARGE NOZZLE AND CONTROL VALVE - CHECK that the appropriate discharge nozzle is not blocked or damaged and that the<br>control valve is functional.

  • UV BAG - CHECK the condition of the UV Bag Cover bag, where applicable (Replace UV Bag every 12 months or if faded or damaged.)

  • DRY CHEM POWDER UNITS (WHITE BAND) - INVERT the extinguisher and ensure that the powder remains free-flowing.

  • ACTUATING DEVICE - DETERMINE, if possible and without discharging any contents, that the actuating device s free of corrosion, nives freely and is undamaged.

  • INTERNAL COMPONENTS - DETERMINE, that the internal discharge tube and strainer (where fitted) provide clear<br>passage and are securely attached.

  • MOBILITY - DETERMINE, that pneumatic tyres are fitted and pressurized to the recommended pressure, wheel bearings are lubricated and check that the extinguisher moves readily on its wheels by rolling it for a distance of at least 5m.
