VISUAL CHECKS

  • Is the forklift free of any visible damage to the bodywork that would be considered unsafe?

  • Are all safety guards and covers properly fastened and secured?

  • Is the forklift free of any obvious leaks?

  • Hydraulic fluid level in the reservoir checked?

  • Mast and carriage free of any damage or foreign items?

  • Chains and fixing bolts visually checked for damaged links, obvious stretching and appropriate lubrication?

  • Forks (and securing pins) visually checked for any sign of cracks or any sign of damage or excess wear?

  • Backrest / Extension visually checked for damage or debris?

  • All tyres checked for obvious damage, including cuts and tread wear?

  • Are wheel rims free of damage?

  • 1 Wheel nuts checked and ensured they are tight?

  • Is the seat correctly fixed to the truck?

  • Is the seat belt or other restraint secure and functioning correctly?

OPERATIONAL CHECKS

  • Does the steering feel normal with no undue play or unusual movement?

  • Do the brakes feel normal and work efficiently?

  • Does the parking brake work efficiently?

  • Are all foot and hand controls operating correctly?

  • All warning lights operating correctly?

  • All gauges and other instruments working correctly?

  • Lights / Beacon operating correctly?

  • Is the horn functioning as desired?

  • Are all alarms functioning correctly?

LPG & Engine

  • Fuel level checked and refuelled if necessary?

  • Engine oil level checked and topped up if necessary?

  • Coolant level checked and topped up if necessary?

  • Fan and other belts checked for correct tension and any obvious damage?

  • Is the LPG bottle secure and clamps fully tightened?
