Framing Party Walls

 • Steel stud spacing as per manufacturers install and seismic design requirements. Max 600 centres or 450 centres. (not 630mm or 470mm)

 • Steel stud gauge as per seismic design requirements.

 • Wall framing detail requirements installed as per seismic design.

 • Steel studs spaced @450mm for in wet areas or as per manufactures install/seismic design requirements.

 • Install extra studs where required if greater then max spacing.

 • Bottom track and deflection track mechanically fixed as per
as per manufactures install and or seismic design
requirements.

 • Where stud is to be fixed horizontally to concrete structure, mechanical fixing 100mm from the bottom then 500mm max centres.

 • Studs are screwed threw slot of deflection head, not fixed. Allowing stud deflection movement.

 • Studs are screwed threw slot of deflection head both sides
of deflection head track. Check/confirm design
requirements for double walls.

 • Install required rows of noggin track as per manufactures
install and or seismic design requirements.

 • Deflection head and tracks are not to run over plumbing fire
collars.

 • Fire rating termination detail installed to junctions and
concrete columns.

Install Fire Rated
Steel Press Door
Frames

 • Door frames packed as per manufactures detail (obtain
detail from supplier).

 • 1.15bmt stud install to each side of door frame allowing
space for FR sheet either side.

 • Stud fixed off with double fixing on each welded door frame
strap.

 • Bottom door frame tabs mechanically fixed to slab during
install (not shot).

 • Door head installed and jack stud.

 • Door frames install level and plumb.

 • Remove travel bracing after install is 100% complete.

Sheeting Fire Rated
Party Walls

 • Single layer installed as per page 70 figure 81.

 • Double layer installed as per page 73 figure 84.

 • Single layer butt joints 200mm staggered max centres.

 • Single layer externals and openings 300mm man centres.

 • Single layer field of board 300mm man centres.

 • Fix off on stud 100mm from top and 100mm from bottom
not through tracks and 10mm-25mm elsewhere from sheet
edge.

 • Butt joints in adjacent sheets and on opposite sides of the wall must be staggered by a minimum of one stud spacing.

 • Cut sheets as necessary to provide up to 10mm gap at the bottom and appropriate clearance at the top.

 • 6-20mm max gap to adjacent surfaces.

 • FR plasterboard is not to run over/touch fire collars.

Setting Fire Rated
Party Walls

 • Paper tape all joints before other framing commences
including behind plumbing stacks.

 • Paper tape internals full length including behind plumbing
stacks.

 • Paper tape external corners 100mm below ceiling level.

 • Paper tape must be behind all framing including ceiling J
track.

 • Patch all fixings.

Fire Mastik/Sealant

 • Bottom and top of sheets to be fire mastik sealed prior to
any other framing.

 • Mastic must be installed before deflection head and track
for adjacent walls is installed.

 • Fire mastik installed behind all plumbing stacks and hard to
reach places.

 • Fire mastik not to be installed/touch fire collars.
