  • Attachment F – Preventative Maintenance Schedules

  • 1. MAIN SWITCHBOARD 1- 6 Monthly

  • Inspection/Test/Maintenance Action

  • Measurement/Test Result/CommentWarning: Some of the following tests and inspections require the operator access to live compartments of the switchboard. It is absolutely imperative that panels which directly access bus bars, etc. Are not removed whilst the switchboard is alive.Safe working practices must be observed at all times

  • Safe working practices must be observed at all times

  • Ensure all generator inhibit switches are in the off position and report irregular switch positions

  • Inspect all meters and record amps and watts

  • Visual inspection of incoming supply bus duct

  • Record amps of outgoing circuits with tong tester

  • Record amps of outgoing circuits with tong tester

  • Confirm protection settings have not been altered by other than authorised personal, metering and trip history records of the Air Circuit Breakers

  • Examine general condition of switchboard, for example, operation of door hardware, paintwork, etc., and report signs of undue corrosion

  • Tidy switchboard area and report general operating condition

  • Ensure a reasonable supply of spare fuses and indicator lamps are held in stock. The minimum number of spares shall be:

  • Indicator lamps 3 of each type

  • HRC fuse cartridges 3 of each rating and type including

  • fault current limiters

  • Check bolted joints and terminations for tightness

  • Check for any deposits of dust with particular attention to insulating barriers and clamps where tracking could occur in the main circuit supply zone and incoming functional units of the switchboard. Vacuum switchboard and clean all components accordingly

  • Inspect and check the switchboard and all cable glands and entries, etc., that the integrity of the specified IP 42 rating is intact

  • Check manual operation of change over switches

  • Note: Automatic operation to be checked in conjunction with periodical generator testing

  • Check operation of all fused switches and inspect contacts for signs of overheating and fuse cartridges for correct size

  • Provide a thermographic survey report incorporating photographic evidence, observations and recommendations

  • Subject Air Circuit Breakers to Primary Current injection testing and internal inspection

  • Clean switchboard interior

  • Check and clean ventilation fans if present
