New Starter Training

Check the new starter sample have completed Bronze for Everyone and Bronze for Department within 8 weeks of joining.
Check the new starter sample have completed Silver for Everyone and Silver for Department within 16 weeks of joining.
Check the new starter sample have a copy of their signed Know Your Stuff validation in their Personnel file (validations should not be store produced).
Check the new starter sample's Training Record Card is signed and dated for each Know Your Stuff module by the trainer and trainee.
Check the new starter samples 'My Performance Review'. Is there evidence that training is discussed?

Check the sample population (excluding staff with less than 16 weeks service) have signed and dated their Training Record Card for Bronze for Everyone and Bronze for Department.
Check the sample population (excluding staff with less than 16 weeks service) have signed and dated their Training Record Card for Silver for Everyone and Silver for Department.
Check the sample population (excluding staff with less than 16 weeks service) have a copy of their signed Know Your Stuff validations are in their Personnel file (validations should not be store produced).
Check the sample population's (excluding staff with less than 16 weeks service) last 'My Performance Review'. Is there evidence that training was discussed?
Check the Team Leader and Manager sample. Is there evidence that Training Skills have been completed?
Check the Team Leader sample. Is there evidence that the 3 Cs and SYA for Team Leaders workshop have been completed?
Check the Manager sample. Have they completed the training for their role as outlined in their My Week?

Check the sample population has completed and signed their Training Record Card for the relevant Food Safety and Hygiene training © (All Staff to have completed Bronze. All Fresh Staff to have completed Bronze and Silver. All relevant Managers to have completed Bronze, Silver and Gold)
Check the sample population has completed their refresher training and signed their Training Record Card for Health and Safety within the last 12 months ©
Check the sample population has completed their refresher training and signed their Training Record Card for Age Restricted Sales within the last 6 months
Check the sample population has completed their refresher training and signed their Training Record Card for Fire Safety within the last 8 months ©
Check the sample population has completed their refresher training and signed their Training Record Card for 3/4 Point Check within the last 12 months ©
Check the sample population has completed their refresher training and signed their Training Record Card for Food Safety and Hygiene within the last 12 months (staff should be refreshed to the level they have been trained on) ©

Ask a selection of Managers to talk through the training on the Training Planner. Can they describe where their department is with each element of training and what their plan is to address any concerns?
Ask a selection of Managers and Team Leaders to describe their role in training. Can they describe their accountability and department plans?
Ask a recent new starter to describe their induction. Do they describe a great introduction to the company?
Ask a selection of staff across 3 departments to describe their training over the last 6 months. Can they describe the support their manager gives them and any recent training launches?
Walk the shopfloor and observe a selection of staff across 3 departments. Do you see evidence of helpful and friendly service (e.g. bag packing, taking customers to the product, showing genuine interest in customers?
Ask Options trainees to describe their training. Can they describe the training they have received and their development plan?
