  • The Company Auditor is to check the drivers defect book and daily running sheets to ensure that they have been completed. Then conduct a circle check and ADR audit noting any defects found that have not been previously recorded. All these details must be entered in the box below. The Auditors ADR Audit requirements can be found overleaf.

Driver, Documents & Vehicle Check

  • Is vehicle cab interior in a suitable condition, ie. clean and tidy?

  • Is the trailer height indicator displaying the correct height for the trailer attached?

  • Training Passport. Check Driver is trained on current vehicle & Trailer. (TLV, Tanks, etc).

  • Check drivers Weekly running sheet, defect & circle check book for completeness.

  • Current Drivers Manual (Check Amendment List for latest AL)

  • Request drivers licence, DQC card and ADR licence.

  • If defects are found by the auditor, did the driver raise a defect sheet for it.

  • Have any discrepancies been found on the ADR audit overleaf, if yes write the defects below.

Vehicle Inspection (Internal)

  • Is the vehicle mirrors clean and free from damage?

  • Can the driver demonstrate that the brakes are fully operational?

  • Is the front windscreen free from damage and/or obstructions?

  • Can the driver demonstrate the vehicles steering is not defective?

  • Can the driver demonstrate the vehicles horn is operational?

  • Are the windscreen wipers operational?

  • Is the dashboard display free of warning lamps, (ABS, etc.)?

Vehicle Inspection (External)

  • Ask driver to put on hazards and press brake pedal, are all lights and indicators operational (Including reverse lights)?

  • Is the vehicle free from signs of oil/fuel leaks?

  • If applicable is coupling security correct (Dogclip attached, etc)?

  • Are all body/wing panels secure on the combination?

  • Is spray suppression (Mudflaps) present and attached securely?

  • Are wheel markers attached and do tyres have suitable tread (3mm minimum)?

  • Are markers, reflectors, number plate and Hazchem plate clean and legible?

  • Is the load secure, doors/back box locked and sealed?

  • Are all suzies connected (Brake lines, Electrical connections)?

  • Details of faults/discrepancies found.

  • Photographic details of faults/discrepancies found.

Health & Safety Compliance Audit

  • Is drivers PPE serviceable and correct?

  • Is the driver wearing the correct PPE? i.e. bump cap/hard hat, safety boots and Hi-Vis.

  • Has the driver used 3 points of contact for access/egress?

Drivers safety on a TLV

  • Are safely bars in use and set to the correct height?

  • Are the ladders serviceable and being used?

  • Has a safe working space been left?

  • Is the driver wearing a hard hat or bump cap?

Helium CoRDe Requirement

  • Is the CoRDe key fob on the tractor unit key ring?

ADR Audit Requirements

  • Fire Extinguishers

  • Total of 12 Kgs of Dry Powder minimum . 2 Kgs must be in the cab. NB: Minimum size permitted to be fitted to the chassis of the vehicle is 6 Kgs. Check dates and integrity of safety devices.

  • Warning Signs

  • 2 Triangles. NB: Can have cones or flashing beacons as an alternative, but beacons must have own power supply - not from vehicle.

  • Torch

  • The torch must not exibit any metal that could cause a spark. Torch must also work.

  • Instructions in Writing.

  • Instructions in Writing from 1st July 2009 four page IIW is mandatory. In language of the driver and English if foreign.

  • Eye Wash

  • A minimum of 900ml is required, in date and unopened.

  • Chocks

  • 2 Chocks if coupled, 1 if solo.

  • Hi-Vis Vest

  • Or coat. Must have two braces and two hoops.

  • Gloves

  • Standard McPherson issue are OK for spirit.

  • Eye Protection

  • Needs to be clear and in good condition. Goggles not glasses for ADR.

  • Shovel

  • Anti-static plastic shovel. NB: Mandatory from 1st July 2009

  • Drain Seal

  • NB: Mandatory from 1st July 2009

  • Collecting Container

  • A plastic container NB: Mandatory from 1st July 2009

  • Certificate of Approval

  • Required for both the unit and the tanker.

  • Photograph of the Certificate of Approval

  • Transport Document

  • Photograph of Transport Document, Seal and Tank Number.

  • If under load. Specific requirements on layout from 1st July 2009. (a) UN number preceded by letters UN (b) The proper shipping name* (c) The packing group preceded by the letters PG (d) Total number of casks (by size) or total quantity for tanks. (e) Name and address of consignor (f) Name and address of consignee (g) Tunnel restriction code unless it is known that a tunnel will not be part of the route. Can be D or D/E for spirit. Entries a, b, c, d and g must be in that order and not interspecific with other information.

  • ID

  • Photographic ID of driver and crew if carried.

  • VTC

  • Original, signed, ADR certificate. (Vocational Training Certificate or Card)

  • Photographs of ADR, DQC and Driving Licence.

  • Vehicle Marking

  • Orange Plate and Hazchem Panels. NB: Orange panel should fasten in both up and down position. Flapping panel is a prohibition.

  • Other PPE

  • Hardhat with chinstrap/Bump cap/Boots in good condition and available.

  • Other Items

  • Dangerous Load Card & First Aid Kit available.

W8 Compliance Audit

  • Is the driver aware of his destination - Is the W8 correct?

  • Does the Tank/TLV number match the information on the W8?

  • Does the seal number match the information on the W8?

  • Is the W8 signed by the operator?

  • Does the driver understand what it means, by signing the W8?

  • Is the driver aware of the consequences, if the wrong tank is tipped at the wrong site?

  • Is the driver aware how to confirm that the trailer is empty and the tankers must have a seal on the rear doors?

  • If the load is going to a third party, ie. Chivas to Diageo, does the W8 have a completed EMCS Customs For with it?
