Fire Safety

  • Fire alarm have been tested each week in rotation and recorded.

  • DM has test key available

  • All emergency lights are in working order and have been tested (5 minute function test). These tests have been recorded

  • Guests facilities and toilets are clean, well stocked and maintained

  • Staff facilities, changing areas / lockers are clean and well maintained

  • Slip, trip and fall hazards are well controlled, spills kit and signage available

  • All safety signage is easily visible

  • General cleanliness is good and waste disposal procedures are followed

  • Maintenance issues reported correctly and action taken to rectify within good time

Equipment

  • All electrical items have been visually inspected and appear safe to use (no exposed wires / cracked covers etc)

  • Dangerous equipment (eg slicer / baler / compactor) only used by trained staff over the age of 21

  • All necessary guards are in good condition and are securely in place

  • Any damaged / defective equipment is removed from use, labelled and repaired / replaced as necessary

Compliance / Operational Procedures

  • Soap and blue roll are available for use by staff to wash hands

  • Contents of first aid box are suitable and in date

  • First aider on duty at all times and has undergone training within the last 3 years

  • Adequate PPE is available and worn by staff as necessary

  • All hazardous chemicals are suitably stored in a lockable cupboard and COSHH Assessments have been completed. Staff have been trained in the use of the substance

  • Manual handling tasks are completed correctly. Staff have undergone manual handling training

  • Working at height tasks are completed correctly. Staff have undergone working at height training

  • Employer's Liability certificate is displayed or made available to staff

  • No smoking sign displayed at entrance

  • DPS licence summary displayed at entrance to premises / copy in office
