Superstructure

Power to MSE

  • a. MSE 8840 router shall be power from a minimum of two Low Ohmic Distribution (LOD) panels

  • b. MSE 8840 requires eight 32 amp circuit breakers at the LOD panel

  • d. Power cable lugs crimped correctly/ securely at LOD

Section 8

Power Cables

  • a. The two input DC blocks and earth post lug from the rear left hand side are to be cable tied to the rear left hand side cable tray of the rack. The other two input DC blocks and earth post lug from the rear right hand side are to be cable tied to the rear right hand side cable tray of the rack. Ensure that they are cable tied side by side to the cable tray of the rack and not cable tied in a bunch

  • b. Power cables must have crimped double ringed cable lugs connected and secured to terminal screws on the rear of the subrack.

  • c. Power cables are cable tied side by side to the cable tray of the rack (should not be cable tied in a bunch)

  • d. Ensure that plastic cover for the DC power blocks is fitted

  • e. Correct colour power cables used (should be Red insulated power cable to return terminals, blue insulated power cables connected to -48V terminals, and green / yellow insulated cables connected to earth terminals)

  • f. Power cables are labelled with the following information on both feeds; Feed / DPU No / Floor / Suite / Rack / CB size & No e.g. FEED B/ DPU 2 / 7 / 10 / 3 / 32a

  • g. Heatshrink on all lugs

  • h. Cables not damaged/ against a sharp edge

Section 9

MSE Subrack

  • a. Tellabs MSE 8840 located in correct position in rack

  • b. Tellabs equipment mounted on shelf & secured to rack rails

  • c. Slots without cards have blanking panels installed

  • d. Correct cards put in slots. Cards put in correct order.

  • e. Correct colour data cables used (red for rollover, blue for straight etc)

Section 10

Comms Cables and BITS clocks

  • a. BITS Clock Cable; Tellabs 8840 router requires two direct separate Building Integrated Timing Supply (BITS) clock feeds per node. . The BITS clock feeds are to connect to the IN A, DB-15 connectors at the rear of the chassis using a metal shell connector.

  • b. Ensure the BITS Clock cable is terminated at the DDF

  • c. Screen/Drain Wire of BITS Clock Cable from Router must not be Earthed/terminate at the DDF

  • d. Cables labelled correctly

  • e. Two screened cables for BITS clock shall be cabled and tied to the rear right hand side cable tray of the rack. Ensure that there is separation from DC power cables

  • *Mandatory photo required - a shot to include the bits cables running on correct side of rack and terminated and plugged into rear of chassis. Try to include labels – may not be able to see all text

Section 11

Comms Cable Management connection

  • a. CAT5 cable that connects to the rear serial RS-232 port of the MSE 8840 router shall have approx 2 meter’s of slack coiled up. It is to be connected to Serial RS-232 port with a DB-9 at the rear of the chassis. The other end of the cable is to connect to a serial port on the OOB Cisco 2511 terminal server

  • b. Serial DB9 and Ethernet RJ45 management cables shall be cabled and tied to the rear left hand side cable tray of the rack.

  • c. Ensure that there is separation from the DC power cables. (Min 50 mm)

  • d. Cables labelled correctly with Brady labels

Section 12

Fibre Storage in Rack

  • a. A minimum of two optical fibre storage trays must be installed above each Tellabs 8840 router.

  • b. Ensure that there is enough space between the two storage trays to access the cords, 1 to 2 RU space shall be left between each tray. All new installations must have 3 storage trays.

  • c. Fibre trays must have minimum of 4 su’s between top of MSE and lowest fibre tray to allow for Copper management.
