Product Inspection & Grade Standards

  • Is OPS-WI-001 Grading Work Instruction, being used and followed correctly. Version date current and correct

  • Is QUAL-WI-022 Kiwifruit Reject Analysis is being used and followed correctly.(Kiwifruit only) Has a 50 fruit reject analysis been done for Avocado's Version date current and correct

  • Observe graders are following either Zespri (Kiwifruit) or NZ Avocado, AVOCO (Avocado) Grade standards correctly

Packing

  • Is OPS-WI-003 Packer Work Instruction, being used and followed correctly Version date current and correct

  • Auditor Product Inspection

  • Check all fruit is covered and tucked correctly, fruit lying flat, fruit at least 90% labelled, no mis-sized fruit or foreign objects

Stacking

  • Is OPS-WI-004 Stacker Work Instruction being used and followed correctly Version date current and correct

  • Check EAN label placement is correct, stacking sequence, interconnecting strips, correct size, pallet base details-Pallet base label, pallet base clean/not damage, stacking configuration correct, pack handling

  • Check treated pallet bases segregation from non-treated, check cleanliness and legible stamp

Strapping

  • Is OPS-WI-016 Strapper Work Instructions being used and followed correctly Version date current and correct

EDI/Doco

  • Frequency of pallet checks correct, 2 pallet checks every 2 hours

  • Is QUAL-FORM-042 Finished Pallet Inspection Form being completed correctly Version date current and correct

  • Check completed pallet including – pallet base, pallet visuals – pallet card/barcodes/EAN label information/v-board indicators/pallet presentation/strapping sequence

Training

  • Are there training records for each of the above areas, eg Bintip, Sizer Driver, Label Operator, Tray Prep, Grading, Packing, Strapping, Stacking, EDI. Was training started prior to the first day of packing

  • Have there been any uncontrolled documentation sighted
