Safety Guidelines

  • Schedule work with operating personnel

  • Check with operating personnel for deficiencies

  • Follow the site safety rules and your supervisor’s instructions

  • Obtain and review manufacturer's instructions

  • Report any problems you find

  • Record the results in the equipment history log

Maintenance Procedures

  • Clean and inspect the water heater

  • Clean away dirt, dust, and other contaminants

  • Inspect for corrosionchipping, and repaint as necessary

  • Check the condition of the insulation on the heat exchanger and holding tank. Repair, replace and paint as necessary

  • Inspect plumbing connections for evidence of leaks

  • Inspect coils for damage/security

  • Exercise valves two full cycles

  • Inspect and clean control panel

  • Check and tighten electrical connections

  • Manually operate the safety relief valve. Check for ease of operation. Verify pressure is relieved

  • Bleed air where equipped

  • Inspect anode and replace if center wire is visible

  • Operational test of the water heater

  • Remove tags/locks and put water heater on line

  • Test the water heater under operational conditions, and observe for unusual noise and signs of leaks

  • Check operation and setting of thermostat

  • Return the unit to service
