SFG 20 Procedure - Pumps

Noise, Vibration and Overheating

  • Check, rectify if possible and report

  • Check all holding down bolts, tighten if required

  • Check casing for physical or mechanical damage

  • Touch up paintwork after removing signs of corrosion

Lubricate

  • Lubricated bearings and motors where suitable lubrication points are provided – (do not lubricate bearings and motors that are fitted with ‘sealed for life’ varieties).

Glands

  • Inspect and adjust glands if necessary. Repack if required

Suction line strainers*

  • Clean

Check pressure differential being developed using available altitude gauges or test points

  • Suction pressure

  • Discharge pressure

Pressure switches and level controls

  • Check settings and test functionally

Electrical

  • Check motor electrical terminals and tighten as required

  • Check electrical connections

  • Check and record full load running current and compare with nameplate details*

  • Check function & operation of local isolation device (stoplock/isolator)

  • Examine and report condition of all associated wiring,

  • Ensure plant has adequate earth conductor and bonding is secure

Motor vent slots

  • Motor vent slots cleaned and dust free

Valves isolation, regulation and non-return valves

  • Check operation and Tighten glands or repack if necessary
