ASSESSMENT:
OBSERVATION: An exception or isolated non conformance identified during an inspection or audit for correction. Observations are of a lower priority than a major non conformance but may lead to a major or minor non conformance if not rectified. Examples include isolated cases of PPE breach, poor housekeeping.
MINOR NON CONFORMANCE: Medium priority non-conformance that does not immediately compromise the ability of the management system to achieve defined objectives, or to assure controlled processes, products or outcomes.
From a risk perspective, a minor non-conformance corresponds to a medium level of risk if corrective action is not taken. Examples include multiple occurrences of an observation or failing to follow traffic management plan.
MAJOR NON CONFORMANCE: A high priority non-conformance that adversely impacts on the ability of the management system to achieve defined objectives or ensures controlled processes, product or outcomes.
From a risk perspective, a major non-conformance corresponds to an extreme or high level of risk if corrective action is not taken. Examples include multiple occurrences of the same minor non conformance or safety devices not in use on machines.
COMPLIANT: Satisfies all statutory, regulatory, codes of practice, company and job specific requirements.
