Information

  • Belfast ATC is now permitted to use the ATM to vector to any published instrument approach procedure (except SRA) and to radar monitor aircraft on 'centre-fix'.
In an emergency situation, FIN can be opened to provide an SRA for recovery. Confirmation of opening the FIN position, including specific delegation of responsibilities, shall take place on the recorded FIN telephone line.

ADC will be permitted to use the ATM to provide:

    1. An APS to traffic:
    a) Inside CAS which is within 60nm of the ARP and below FL195, or
    b) Outside CAS within 40nm of the Aldergrove ARP.

    2. Vectors and to issue instructions to aircraft whilst also carrying out an ADC service.

    3. A radar service to:
    a) IFR traffic. If necessary to reduce the levels of traffic for any reason, controllers should consider the following actions:
    - IFR departures may be held on the ground if required
    - IFR arrivals may be held by PC at the BEL if required.
    b) VFR traffic within the judged workload capacity of the ATCO involved.

    4. ADC must identify, validate and verify aircraft using standard MATS Pt.1/2 procedures.

  • RiT OPENING CHECKLIST (INT).

  • Complete a handover to ADC, transferring relevant aircraft (those not greyed out) to 128.5 and distributing relevant INFO strips to RiT. (Transfer a/c using the frequency field - DO NOT USE THE "SHOW" FUNCTION). NB: greyed out pending strips will automatically be redistributed in RiT when INT Role is closed - although not always immediately.

  • When ADC is ready, state:<br>"You have control of the approach radar function".

  • Close the INT role.

  • RiT CLOSING CHECKLIST (INT).

  • Select INT Role and open the Role.

  • Take a handover from ADC.

  • Advise ready to accept the operation:<br>"INT has control of the approach radar function ".

  • General broadcast:<br><br>"All stations Aldergrove Radar. Aerodrome services will now be provided by Aldergrove Tower on frequency 118.3. I say again, Aerodrome services will now be provided by Aldergrove Tower on frequency 118.3. Out".
