  • Relay Rooms equipped with plastic curtains which have directional arrows attached.

  • All storage cupboards labelled as to content. Interiors tidy and contents identified.

  • All rooms, floors, windows, window sills clean and in good decorative order.

  • Paintwork and brickwork in good condition and clean.

  • Is "No Smoking" policy observed.

  • All equipment in good order and presenting no visible danger to staff.

  • Crane maintenance records up-to-date.

Aux Plant and Buildings

  • Earthing equipment inspected, stored properly and in sound condition.

  • Sufficient demarcation equipment available and in sound condition.

  • Compressor Room.<br>Valves labelled unique number on equipment as well as control board and guards in good condition and in position.<br>Drawing available/permanently displayed.<br>

  • Hearing protection notices displayed where required (diesel, compressor rooms).

  • Room tidy and rubbish container empty.

  • Oil Room<br>"No Smoking" notices displayed.<br>

  • Oil valves correctly/uniquely marked. Drawing available.

  • Access ways clear of obstructions, marked if appropriate.

  • All guards on machine tools, lathe miller, grinders.<br>Emergency stops labelled.<br>

  • Grinding wheel, max spindle speed disc size marked.

  • Protection of eye notices displayed and goggles available.

  • Lighting and heating satisfactory (including emergency).

  • Site fence and gates in sound and secure condition. 1 metre clear walkway (external) and not compromised by materials, vehicles etc. All gates locked.

  • Ladders in good condition, secured.

  • Site free of unguarded excavations, broken trench covers etc.

  • Any signs of pollution, oil release to drains/trenches etc.<br>Plinths free of oil.<br>

  • Hearing protection notices displayed where required (transformer housings, gates).

  • Any materials on view (that may encourage theft).

  • Are site security systems functioning?

  • Substation gates and fence labels in order.

  • Emergency equipment in good order eg eye wash bottles.

  • Safe working area demarcation correct.

  • Caution/Danger Notices correctly used.

  • Protective equipment in use/available.

  • Is outdoor lighting satisfactory?]

  • Good housekeeping in buildings and rooms is of a high standard.

  • Check that relevant planned inspections have been carried out.
