Task Compliance

  • Task needs to be completed as per Insync Unloading Logs SOP and Logyard Rules

  • 1. Was load compliant with Forestry ACOP loading rules and if not did operator report load as per CHH unsafe load procedure?

  • 2. Did operator consider the generic hazards associated with the task e.g. Sunstroke? If hazards are present they should be minimised, isolated or eliminated.

  • 3. Is radio contact maintained with the truck driver to ensure good communication at all times during unloading?

  • 4. Did driver remain in cab while unloaded?If under special circumstance drivers may need to leave the cab, was a safe zone agreed between operator and driver?

  • 5. Before approaching truck/trailer did driver ensure beak and tusks were fully open?

  • 6. Did operator only approach truck/trailer once stationary with brakes on?

  • 7. Did operator before unloading ensure the truck/trailer was on level ground?

  • 8. If logs were jammed/tangled, chain jammed or logs unbalanced or have excessive overhang,did operator ask for assistance from excavator/high stacker?

  • 9. Did operator use hold downs as is mandatory?

  • 10. When closing tusks, beak or hold downs did operator ensure they are clear of truck bolsters?

  • 11. Did operator ensure load was centred to avoid unbalanced load and log spill? Be aware of slippery logs.

  • 12. Did operator avoid turning to quickly with grabs to avoid log spillage?

  • 13. Did operator ensure of putting grab to a stack that there is enough room to avoid logs touching?

  • 14. When loading chipper deck, did operator ensure there was sufficient room to avoid log spillage from the deck?

  • 15. Did operator ensure beak/tusks fully open before using kickers to push logs off forks to help minimise log spillage?

  • 16. Did operator check for traffic (mobile plant/trucks) before moving back to unloading area?

  • 17. Did operator ensure no fallen logs were left following unloading that could cause a hazard to other traffic? Tidy up if necessary.
