FIB inspection

Internal Area

  • Are the fibre bales stacked safely and correct

  • Is the floor area clean and free from any spills or slip hazards

  • Are the walkways clear from obstruction and safe to use

  • Is the finished product wrapped and secured correctly to the pallet

  • Are the fire exits in your area free from obstruction

  • Is the office clear from obstruction

  • Is the office free from heaters that are not authorised by engineering or H&S

  • Are the fire exits clear from obstruction

  • Are the fire extinguishers clean, accessible and inspected within 12 months

  • Is the area tidy and clear from debris

Mechanical handling and moving

  • Are all FLTs working and in good condition.

  • Have all pre-start checks been completed (please provide photo of check sheet)

  • Are there any keys left in the FLT or any other moving vehicles that are used in this area

  • Are the FLT operators driving at standard and using the training as required

  • Are the horns being used correctly for example when approaching blind spots or corners

  • Are seat belts being worn by all drivers internal and external of the area

  • Has the pre-start check for the tug been completed

  • Are chocks applied to the tug when not in use or being loaded with product (photo evidence required)

  • Are the tugs in good condition and working order

  • Are the trailers in good condition and safe to use.

External yard area (loading and pallet area)

  • Is the area clear from obstruction and congestion

  • Are all visitors reverse parked in the correct bays

  • Are the waste bins overflowing

  • Are all pallets stored correctly and not overhanging each other

  • Is the yard area clean and clear from debris (front of reception and pallet storage)

  • Are the banksmen identifiable by the orange vests

  • Are banksmen carrying out the correct process (if banksmen are controlling a vehicle at the time photos are required)

  • Are all FLT drivers following the site speed limits and driving in a responsible way

  • Are all drains in the area free from debris for example feather and fibre

  • Any driver observations at the time of the inspection must have the drivers name, shift and manager listed below
