Solar Inspection

System Details

  • Please refer to manufacturers instructions / installation guides for specific equipment details

  • Inverter make and size

  • Inverter location

  • Has the inverter been securely fixed to a non combustible material

  • Is the inverter adequately labelled

  • Has the minimum clearance for ventilation of the inverter been achieved

Electrical Inspection

  • Has the generation meter been installed in an accessible location? (this should be installed in a location in which the customer can access to read the meter)

  • Is the AC Cable run satisfactory? (clipped using fire rated fixings)

  • Has the DC isolator been installed and labelled?

  • Is the DC cable run satisfactory (clipped/labelled)? (if the DC cable is external, this must be in PVC conduit and labelled)

  • Has a separate Solar PV consumer unit been installed? If YES, check the Solar PV Consumer has been wired correctly, labelled adequately and all breakers are in the on position

  • Has the Solar PV system been installed in the existing consumer unit? If YES, check all the breakers in the board are the same brand and the dedicated Solar PV breaker has been labelled.

  • Has a Type B breaker been installed (rated minimum of 16AMPS)?

  • Do all cable entries comply with BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations? (e.g. glands and grommets)

  • Has the consumer unit been blanked with plates where necessary?

  • Are security seals intact to mains supply? (cut-out and metering equipment)

  • During your inspection, have you identified any unsafe situations which require immediate attention? (This includes exposed conductors, DNO Issues and poor workmanship)

Roof Inspection

  • Has the DC cable correctly been fed through the roof using the overlapping roof felt? (If roof felt has been punctured, this will be a failure)

  • Does the PV array have the correct number of brackets and rails?

  • Do all panels appear to be straight and level?

  • Has the required boundary been left around the PV array?

  • Has the excess been cut down on the roof rails?

  • Have the DC cables been tie wrapped to the roof rail?

Handover

  • Has a copy of the Solar PV system schematics been left on site? (this should be attached near the inverter)

  • Has a “SOLAR PV ON ROOF” (fire service sticker) sticker been attached in a visible area close to the main electrical consumer unit?

  • Has the householder been provided with a demonstration on how the system works
