Topic - Crystalline Silica

  • WELCOME EVERYONE to the RJA TOOLBOX TALK on Crystaline SIlica

  • Construction Dust – Crystalline Silica is a common mineral found in most rocks. Including products like concrete, bricks, and cement sheeting.
    This dust is produced when you are cutting, sawing and grinding. Crystalline Silica dust has been linked to lung cancer, incurable lung disease, Kidney Failure and other cancers.

  • When you are cutting material and producing dust – you need to;

    1. Wear Dust Mask - Respiratory Protection
    2. Safety Glasses
    3. Be aware of other people around you who could be affected.

  • This can also impact your family. Make sure you change your clothes before greeting your family - you don't want to bring Silica dust home for loved ones to breath in.

  • When you are creating dust on our site you should; 1. Make sure there is good ventilation if you are creating dust indoors. 2. Use vacuums on tools if possible. 3. Use appropriate safety glasses and breathing apparatus (dust masks).

  • Does anyone have questions about SIlica Dust ?
