Watch Keeping Notes

  • During the period of your watch, you are responsible for the safety and security of the yacht and the personnel on board.

  • Swapping of watches must be agreed upon at least one day in advance of the watch commencing - only with permission from the Captain or Chief Officer.

  • Watch keepers are to be up, present and dressed in uniform in the crew mess or work area from 07.50.

  • If you see anything that looks unordinary to you while doing a round, please report it to a senior crew member, no matter how big or small.

  • Once the working day has finished, watch keepers are to remain in uniform and have the pager on them/be in the crew mess until 22.00.

  • Sleeping or hanging out in your cabin while on watch is strictly prohibited.

Daytime Duties

Morning Duties - 07.45

  • Unlock both Bridge doors.

  • Turn off all exterior lights (touch screen and switches).

  • Switch security system to 'Off'.

  • Record wind speed and direction.

Take the 'Exterior Master Key' and go for a Deck round.

  • Unlock Main Deck Engine Room emergency escape.

  • Unlock Main Deck Lower Guest emergency escape.

  • Check tender (if in the water).

  • Check lines and fenders.

  • Check the passarelle.

  • Return 'Exterior Master Key' to CO desk.

  • Raise the ensign at 08.00 sharp. Do not be late.

Midday Duties - 12.00

  • Record wind speed and direction.

Dinner Set-up 16.50

  • Set up the crew mess tables for dinner and bring food down from Galley

After Work Duties

  • Switch security system to 'Night'.

  • Lock both Bridge doors.

  • Record wind speed and direction.

Take the 'Exterior Master Key' and go for an Interior, Deck and Engine Room round.

  • Bridge Salon sliding door on 'one way out'.

  • Bridge Guest Lobby exterior door locked.

  • Master Cabin emergency escape locked.

  • Main Guest Lobby exterior door locked.

  • Main Salon 3 x sliding doors all on 'one way out'

  • Check Lower Guest Lobby.

  • All doors are closed and all lights are switched off in the Interior.

  • Lock 2 x emergency escape doors on Main Deck port side.

  • Check tender (if in the water).

  • Check lines and fenders.

  • Check passarelle and 'No Boarding' sign is in place.

  • Collect 2nd Eng pager.

  • Quick Engine Room check.

  • Return 'Exterior Master Key' to CO desk.

Sunset Duties - Daily Sunset Time on Watch Schedule

  • Lower ensign at sunset.

  • Turn on Main Deck lights to 60% and name plate lighting.

Evening Duties

Dinner Clean-up Duties - 18.30

  • Clear up dinner, put all food into plastic containers and label with today's date.

  • Wash food platters and put back in the Galley.

  • Remove condiments and wipe all surfaces.

  • Clean the sink and strainer.

  • Run and empty dishwasher prior to retiring for the evening.

  • Vacuum and mop the Crew Mess floor (chairs up).

  • Place cushions neatly.

  • Empty 'General/Food Waste' bin. Empty others as required.

Evening Walk Around - 20.00

  • Check tender (if in the water).

  • Check lines and fenders.

  • Check passarelle.

  • Record wind speed and direction.

  • Put cover back on Bridge Deck Forward seating

  • Confirm that all CCTV cameras are working in the Crew Mess and Bridge

Final Walk Around - 22.00

  • Check tender (if in the water).

  • Check lines and fenders.

  • Check passarelle (lift if necessary).

Check and record fridge temperatures.

  • Galley Fridge One - between 3 to 5 degrees

  • Galley Fridge Two - between 3 to 5 degrees

  • Galley Freezer One - between -19 to -21 degrees

  • Walk-in Fridge - between 3 to 5 degrees

  • Walk-in Freezer - between -19 to -21 degrees

  • Turn off Laundry light and close the door.

  • Put 2nd Eng pager on charge.

  • Record wind speed and direction.

  • Put iPad on charge in the Bridge.
