Have welding screens (noncombustible or flameproof) been erected to control sparks / hot slag / flame / arc

Is the area below the Hot Work activities correctly barriered and warning signage posted, where applicable

Atmosphere tested if flammable or explosive gases and vapours may be present (by Authorised Gas Tester)

Environment assessed for flammable dusts and appropriate controls in-place

All open drains and sewers thoroughly sealed within 15 metres of any hot works

Minimum distance of 15 metre radius where hot works is carried out near hazardous areas

All combustible materials moved away from where hot work is to be undertaken

Are combustible materials that are fixed and immovable protected with non-combustible material such as sheet metal or fire blankets

Is correct PPE being worn for the task (e.g. approved face shield or helmet with a filtered lens for welding)

Is double eye protection used when welding, cutting and grinding (eg. clear safety glasses worn under visor)

Are fire blankets in place and available

Leads / oxy hoses routed in a safe manner

No welding leads stored on top of welding machine

Grinders being operated in accordance with procedures

Is a suitable metal container available to collect used welding rod stubs

Cylinders secured, gauges operative, flashback arresters fitted and hoses in good condition

Firewatcher in place if specified in the Hot Work Permit

Welding leads and oxy hoses inspected prior to use

Electric welding machines are equipped with voltage regulator devices (VRD) and earth lead attached to the Hot Work material
