Chemicals

  • No corrosive chemicals present unless necessary. Ex: bleach.

  • Where corrosive chemicals are being used, protective eyewear, gloves and eyewash stations are present.

  • All chemicals must have MSDS sheet to support.

  • All flammable gas tanks secured with chain on or in racking.

Egress

  • All walkways/aisles must be 36" including space between pallets or inventory racks and break areas. Nothing can be stacked or sitting in the walkways/aisles. No tripping hazards.

  • Make sure doors and exit ways are not blocked.

Electrical

  • 36” clearance in front of all electrical panels.

  • Panel closed on all electrical panels.

  • No extension cords being used. If extension cords are necessary, ensure they are not daisy-chained together.

  • All electrical outlets have covers.

  • No exposed electrical wiring.

Fire Protection

  • Make sure extinguishers are in designated places, visible, and accessible for immediate use.

  • Check to ensure there is adequate signage above the extinguisher to indicate its location.

  • Check the temper seal is on the extinguisher, that is holding the pin in firmly, and that it hasn’t been damaged.

  • Make sure the pointer on the extinguisher gauge is in the operating position (green).

  • Check the extinguisher for physical damage, corrosion, or other impairments (canister, hose, handle, etc.).

  • Check the tag for the annual service date and confirm that it has not passed.

  • Sign and date to record inspection was done (initial and date on the tag).

  • 36” clear path to all fire exits.

  • 36” clearance around all fire extinguishers.

General Housekeeping

  • Trash cans in restrooms have lids.

  • No racking, trash cans, etc within 48 inches of toilet to support wheelchair access.

Ladders

  • Ladders secured when not in use.

Waste Disposal

  • Excess cardboard must be placed in dumpsters and can't be stored inside the building, or outside other than in a dumpster.
