Calibration procedure and record

  • Complete this form annually (and following purchase if new scales do not come with a calibration cert) for each set of scales used. A calibrated certified weight is used to complete the calibration. Tolerance permitted +/-20g (using a 2kg weight).

  • If scales are bench scale type ensure scales are on a stable level surface and any residues are removed (clean plate). If hanging scale type use bucket on hook. 1. zero or tare the scales with scale dish or bucket in place. 2. Add weight . 3. Record reading once reading is steady.

  • If a scales fail (out of tolerance or faulty) complete a corrective action.
