Visual Inspection

  • Are all decals are legible and in place?

  • Are the operators and safety manuals are located on the platform?

  • The batteries are fully charged (Charge if required before using)

  • Is the inspection certificate is in date?

Check the following components or areas for damage, improperly installed or missing parts, and authorised modification.

  • Electrical components, wiring and electrical cables

  • Hydraulic hoses, fittings, cylinders and manifolds (Add oil if required)

  • Drive and turntable motors and torque hubs

  • Boom wear pads

  • Dents or damage to the machine e.g. cracked welds.

  • Tyres and wheels (Inflate if required)

  • Limit switches, alarms, horn and beacons.

  • Nuts, bolts and other fasteners.

  • Platform entry mid-level

  • Component covers are in place and latched.

  • Check battery for fluid leaks and fluid levels (Add distiller water if needed)

  • Both battery packs are in place and properly connected.

Operational Inspection (Using the ground controls test)

  • The beacon works when you switch on the machine (*if fitted)

  • The emergency stop button works and nothing else works when it has been pressed.

  • Operate each boom function in both directions to ensure their correct operation.

  • Operate the tilt sensor by pushing it - the horn should sound

Operational Inspection (Using the platform controls test)

  • Check the mid-rail bar is in position

  • Check that your lanyard is securely attached to the platforms anchor ring.

  • Check the emergency stop button works, and nothing else does when it has been pressed.

  • Check the horn works.

  • Check the warning lights work.

  • Check that the controls won't operate without the foot switch being pressed.

  • Check each boom functions in both directions to ensure their correct operation.

  • Check in low speed that the steering operates correctly.

  • Check in low speed that the steering operated correctly.

  • Check in low speed that the drive and breakers operate correctly.

  • Check in high speed that the drive and breaks operate correctly.

  • Check the drive speed limiter engages when the platform is raised.

  • If you find any defect in the lifting platform, do not use it. Isolate it, tag it and report it to your line manager.
