  • AA’s use proper PPE while operating on the caster deck: an ANSI Class II High visibility safety vest that is zipped to ensure 360-degree coverage and impact resistant gloves (AGOM 3.3.2.2)

  • AA’s will not use personal electronic devices (e.g. cell phones) while on the Caster Deck. In the event of an emergency, Associate will exit the Caster Deck to an appropriate location to use any mobile device (AGOM 3.3.2.3)

  • All staged ULDs must be secured by caster deck locks to prevent uncontrolled movement of the ULD and/or damage (AGOM 3.3.2.3)

  • The interior caster deck locks must be disengaged/lowered when not actively securing a ULD in place (AGOM 3.3.2.3)

  • AA’s operating on the Caster Deck must ensure all border locks are engaged at all times unless actively transitioning ULDs to / from the Caster Deck (AGOM 3.3.2.3)

  • During loading/unloading of ULD, Cargo Tractor Operators will assist Caster Deck AA’s with maneuvering the ULDs to/from the dollies to prevent AA’s on the caster deck from over-reaching. (AGOM 3.3.2.4) Best practice: Cargo Tractor Operator verbally communicates the ULD is good to send

  • AA’s do not load more than one (1) ULD onto each dolly (AGOM 3.3.2.4)

  • AA’s do not spin the ULD on the dolly, as this can cause possible injuries and/or damages (AGOM 3.3.2.4)

  • All AKE, DQF, and DPE type ULDs must be turned at a minimum 45° angle in order to prevent the ULD from sliding into the gap between the dolly and the Caster Deck (AGOM 3.3.2.3)

  • There are a minimum of 2 AA’s moving a ULD to/from dollies and during movement on the caster deck (AGOM 3.3.2.3)

  • AA’s use straps and maintain control at all times while moving a ULD (Safety Training GA R22.02 ULDS – Initiating Movement)

  • Whenever possible, AA’s should be positioned on the same side of ULD to allow line-of-sight for visual commands and signals throughout the ULD movement (Safety Training GA R22.02 ULDS- Movement Thru Site)

  • AA’s eyes remain on path/direction of travel (Safety Training GA R22.02 ULD – Movement Thru Site)

  • AA’s, ULD’s, or other items are never standing or staged in the opening of the fast door. (Safety Training GA R22.02 - Fast Door Safety)

  • Prior to departing the Caster Deck, the Cargo Tractor Operator will (AGOM 3.3.2.4): (1) perform a walk-around of the dolly string, (2) physically validate all locks are placed "up" by touching all dolly locks, (3) validate ULDs are secured

  • AA’s are only using approved stairways to exit/enter the caster deck (AGOM 3.3.2.3)

  • No caster deck AA’s are operating within the tug highway (AGOM 3.3.2.4)
