COMPETENCY - Trained persons, are persons who, based on their specialist training and experience have adequate knowledge of the system to be checked and are sufficiently familiar with the relevant regulations, guidelines and generally recognised rules of the Easi-Dec Platform & Roofline System and accompanying regulations - e.g., Health and Safety Regulations and Accident Prevention Regulations that are in force in the country of use; and can assess the safe working conditions of the installation location.<br>A trained person shall be responsible for selecting all users of the Easi-Dec Platform & Roofline System.

  • Has the installer received training from Easi-dec Access Systems Ltd, viewed the instructional DVD and have read the assembly guides provided.

RAMS & POINT OF WORKS RISK ASSESSMENT (POWRA)

  • Has a POWRA been completed

  • Has the auditor found any potential risks that have not been identified prior to the Easi-Dec erection (Poor ground conditions/overhead power lines/excavations)

  • Has a full RAMS been produced and on-site for review

  • Is the correct PPE/RPE being worn

  • Is there a RAMS present

  • Is there a first aid kit present with sufficient items in

  • What system of Easi-Dec is in use (Platform & Roofline/2m Easi-Dec platform)

  • Approximate height of platform

  • Are all feet in place

  • Have the back legs been fitted

  • Have all pins been inserted from the outside

  • Are the Dec eye-bolts fixed to the platform

  • Are the Dec support struts fitted correctly between the legs

  • Are the sliding stalk and feet fitted

  • Are the back leg braces fitted

  • Are the horizontal braces in place

  • Are the diagonal braces in place

  • Are the guardrails in place

  • Are safety gates fitted correctly

  • Are toe boards fitted

  • Are toe board clamps in position

  • Has the ladder been fitted correctly and at the right angle (1:4)

  • Has the ladder been tied off using the correct straps

  • If a catwalk is fitted does it overhang each platform by a minimum of 300mm

  • Has the Dec been tied to the structure?

  • Are all component parts in good condition

  • Are all platforms in good condition?

  • Have support struts been fitted under the platform

  • Where a 'Budgie step' has been used, have the pins been fixed correctly. (The Budgie step is a temporary connection to the Super Leg to act as a step to replace pins and ‘R‟ Clips).

STAND OFF SYSTEM

  • Has the stand off front guardrail been fitted correctly (pins and 'R' clips in place) to prevent falls from the increased inside gap

  • Has the stand off stiffened toe board been fitted correctly

DORMER KIT

  • Have the dormer padded bars (used to protect tiles from damage) been fitted

END SUPPORT KIT

  • The support frame and single leg are designed to support one end of a Catwalk staging where there is insufficient space to accommodate a 2m Easi-Dec.
    The end support MUST be anchored to the structure.

  • Has the end support kit been anchored to the structure

  • Are the ratchet straps in situ and secure

  • Have the guardrails been fitted correctly

  • Have the 'closer handrails' (stop ends) been fitted

CATWALK/TRIMLINE SYSTEM

  • Used as a bridge between 2 x Easi-Dec's and to span longer distances and work over obstructions

  • Are the upright posts in situ on the guardrails

  • Have toe boards been fitted correctly using toe board clamps

  • Have both Easi Dec's and the Catwalk been secured to the structure via anchor ties

  • Has the optional 'End support system' been used as a mid catwalk support

  • Does the platform overhang the Dec by a minimum of 300mm

  • Where the end support system has been used, has the support been strapped to the catwalk using the 2 ratchet straps

  • Ensure that overloading on platforms does not exceed 300kg (47 stone)
