GENERAL

Verify permits are current and posted for each non-connected stand

Verify a supervisor (at least 18 years old) is on site

Verify no smoking occurs within 10 feet of stand

Verify the stand operator is not consuming or under the influence of alcohol

Verify no fireworks are being sold or offered to children less than 16 years old

Verify no fireworks are being sold from a residence, tent, or motor vehicle

Verify no illegal fireworks are being sold (i.e. bottle/pop rockets, m-80 salutes)

Verify all fireworks conform with CPSC labeling (signal word: warning or caution)

Prohibited: exploding/igniting fireworks within 100 feet of a place where fireworks are stored or sold
EXTERIOR

Fireworks sold minimum 100’ away from flammable liquids/gases stored or dispensed

Prohibited: sale of fireworks upon highways, sidewalks, public property, or in A or E occupancies
-
"FIREWORKS - NO SMOKING" signs posted conspicuously around the facility
-
Vegetation and trash must be kept at least 10' away from the structure

Facility must be equipped with suitable locking devices to prevent unauthorized entry
-
Electrical service drop must be installed at least eight feet above ground or buried underground

Light fixtures/wiring installed and maintained to prevent contact by the general public and employees
INTERIOR

Egress doors/pathways must be unlocked and unobstructed
-
Aisle width must be a minimum of 48 inches in areas where consumer fireworks are stored/sold

Stands less than 16' in length must have one exit door that opens outward. Stands 16' or longer must have two exit doors that open outward
-
Fire extinguishers with a minimum of 2A rating must be provided within 75' of any point in the building, with each extinguisher covering no more than 1,000 square feet per unit of "A" rating
ELECTRICAL

Electrical power shutoff switch must be located near an egress door, either interior or exterior
-
No drop cords, extension cords, or bare wiring in stand
-
No electrical hazards; wiring splices / connections must be in a junction box with cover
-
All electrical devices must be approved by a NRTL (i.e. UL, CSA, FM, ETL)
-
Electric heaters must have a tip-over cutoff switch
-
Prohibited: heat or light sources with open flames inside stand
-
Light fixtures within 25’ of consumer fireworks to have guards to protect the light bulb
-
Generator must be at least 10' away from stand and combustible materials
-
A minimum 6B:C fire extinguisher must be provided for each generator
