  • Hand rails are secure and well anchored to the ground or building.

Furniture Fittings & Fixtures

  • All furniture is in good condition and is safe to use.

  • Light and fan fittings are searchable and safe.

  • Fan and light switches are serceable and safe.

  • Hanging displays are safe and secure.

Storage in Classrooms and Staffrooms.

  • Resources and materials are stored safely and securely.

  • Free standing shelving or cupboards are secure and or fixed to walls or floor.

  • Shelving is at a suitable height.

  • Heavy objects are stored on lower shelves and lighter items up higher.

Electrical

  • Electrical equipment is in good condition and is tested and tagged as required.

  • Location and number of power points is adequate for safe operations.

General

  • Hazards that are sharp, or dangerous in some, way have been identified and stored correctly (knives, compass, glue/paint etc.).

  • Sinks and benches are clean and in good working order.

  • Zip boilers or jugs are located to reduce or eliminate any injury when in use or being stored.
