  • Each New Area Inspection should be conducted prior to work commencing in a new area.

  • Inspection to be completed by at minimum the superintendent and safety.

  • Add as many photos as possible.

  • If neccesary, report all deficiencies to the person who owns the area (DL, Coordinator, etc.)

  • All deficiencies should be addressed prior to work commencing.

Site Conditions

  • Is the work area exposed to the elements?

  • Does the work area have sufficient illumination?

  • Is the work area clear of debris?

  • Are there slip, trip and fall hazards?

  • Is there standing water/ open water?

  • Is there sufficient access and egress?

  • Are there working safety showers nearby?

  • Are there any overhead obstructions?

  • Who should you call in the event of an emergency?

  • Where is the designated muster point?

  • Are there restrooms nearby?

  • Are there signs of animals and insects?

  • Are there loud noise levels in the work area?

  • Are there any other hazards or unsafe conditions?

  • What are they?

Electrical

  • Are GFCIs working properly

  • Is there any overhead power in/around the area?

  • Are there any uncovered junction boxes?

  • Are there any exposed conductors in the area?

  • Have all underground utilities been identified?

Vehicles and Equipment

  • Is there sufficient parking/ material storage?

  • Have pedestrian walkways and crosswalks been identified and clearly marked?

  • Is there high vehicle traffic in and around the work area?

Fire Protection/Prevention

  • Are there inspected fire extinguishers in the work area?

  • Are there flammable chemicals/materials in the area?

  • Are there combustible materials in the area?

  • Are there hazardous materials in the work area?
