More than one auditor?

  • Additional auditors

  • Exclusion zones established, physically identified and maintained to prevent persons entering piling areas(including exclusion around the crane counterweight, outriggers and pile pitching zone)

  • Side loading on the boom and side dragging of piles is avoided when a pile is being pitched in position for driving

  • For any works below the drop hammer, the hammer is lowered onto the positively locked safety system and the crane hoist mechanism is be locked out (lock out/ tag out permit)

  • The drop hammer is not snatching or catching

  • The hoist rope is not being jerked or the crane tipped during pile extraction

  • Limiting and indicating devices are fitted to mobile cranes used for pile extraction

  • The additional mass of the equipment used in piling and the loads arising during operation do not overload the crane, boom or jib structure

  • The stability of the crane has been verified and is not adversely affected by the additional mass of piling equipment (e.g. Minimum area required under outrigger foot = 0.65 x (total crane mass + lifted load) divided by pressure applied by outrigger feet)

  • Ropes on sheaves and on drums, rope terminal fittings and rope anchorages (pile driving and pile extraction) inspected and not damaged

  • Inspecting person to verify: where a drop hammer is used on a crane mounted on a barge or other floating plant, the release of the hammer produces a reaction on the vessel, which should be taken into account when considering the stability of the combined unit

  • A risk assessment has been facilitated for any pile excavation works

  • A SWMS/ JSEA is in place for all piling works

  • The piling noise levels consistent with the Desktop Noise Assessment
