Buying process.

  • Drop woodback in top third of oil column.

  • Tie off woodback to hatch (wait fifteen minutes).

  • Thief top third of oil column.

  • Top sample.

  • Thief middle of oil column. (of loaded oil)

  • Insert hydrometer (five minutes).

  • Read hydrometer quickly for gravity and temp. (after five minutes)

  • Thief bottom of tank.

  • Take bottom sample (10")

  • Gauge tank (twice).

  • Read woodback (Is the woodback marked for easy read 30,60,90?).

  • Empty woodback and hang in tank.

Testing.

  • Test samples at a minimum 160 degrees.

  • Spin out.

  • Read grind out, check BS&W (Do you know how to read a 100 vs. 200 sample viles?).

  • If grind out is unacceptable, CALL Crude Operations.<br>If grindout is acceptable, continue with steps to load.

Loading.

  • Hook up hose.

  • Break seal(keep seal), open valves.

  • Load trailer (remember top spill issues- getty box, know your trailer, do not get in truck)

  • Shut valves, seal tank.

  • Suck hose and getty box dry.

  • Unground.

Finishing process.

  • Lower woodback between 8" to 15" from bottom (five minutes).

  • Gauge tank (twice).

  • Read woodback (careful to get accurate reading quickly).

  • Fill out paperwork, leave appropriate slip at wellhead.

Must KNOW

  • Top gauge move down to first quarter inch, bottom gauge moves to the nearest quarter inch.

  • When oil buying procedures are completed, the tank top and hatch must be wiped clean.
