Audit

All persons undertaking Verification of Competency shall be assessed by a person deemed to have suitable subject matter knowledge by either qualification or practical experience and nominated by the company General Manager.

The nominated assessor shell ensure all Hazards - Safe Operation - Maintenance Cleaning Instruction are relayed to the person being assessed and that the knowledge assessment is recorded.

MANUAL HANDLING - MOVING PLATES ONTO CUTTING SUPPORTS

MANUAL HANDLING - REMOVAL OF CUT PLATES FROM THE REAR OF THE MACHINE

HOUSE KEEPING - OFF CUTS OF PLATE LEFT AT THE REAR OF THE MACHINE

STRIKING - ENSURE MATERIAL PLACED ON ROLLERS DOES NOT OVER BALANCE

SAFE OPERATION

ENSURE ALL GUARDING IS IN GOOD CONDITION PRIOR TO STARTING THE MACHINE

ENSURE PLATE BEING CUT IS LARGE ENOUGH SO THAT IT CAN BE CLAMPED SECURELY

HANDS MUST BE KEPT CLEAR OF THE CLAMP UNIT AND FRONT GUARD AT ALL TIMES, MATERIAL CAN LIFT CRUSHING FINGERS BETWEEN WORKPIECE AND FRONT GUARD

THE REAR ELECTRONIC EYE PREVENTS OPERATION OF THE MACHINE IF ANYONE ENTERS THE ZONE BEHIND THE MACHINE , IF THE GATES ARE NOT PARALLEL TO EACH OTHER THE MACHINE WILL NOT OPERATE

INSPECT SAFETY ZONE PRIOR TO RESETTING THE GUILLOTINE WITH THE PUSH BUTTON AT REAR OF THE MACHNE ON INITIAL STARTUP OR AFTER THE EMERGENCY STOP OR SAFETY BEAM HAVE BEEN ACTIVATED

PLATE CUT WIDTH IS EITHER MANUALLY SET OR SET VIA THE ELECTRONIC STOP, MANUAL CHECKING OF THE ELECTRONIC STOP IS ADVISED TO ENSURE CORRECT CUT SIZE AND REDUCTION OF WASTE MATERIALS

THE PLATE THICKNESS IS TO BE ASSESSED PRIOR TO ANY CUT BEING UNDERTAKEN, THE ANGLE OF THE BLADE IS TO BE ADJUSTED ON THE FRONT CONTROL PANEL TO SUIT THE MATERIAL BEING CUT

OPERATING THE FOOT PEDAL OR MANUAL START WILL CAUSE THE CLAMP TO LOWER AND HOLD THE WORKPIECE DURING THE CUT BY THE GUILLOTINE, UNDER MANUAL CONTROL THE CLAMP MUST BE RAISED IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CUT

WHENEVER POSSIBLE UTILISE THE OVERHEAD CRANE OR FORKLIFT WHEN HANDLING PLATES

HIGH LEVELS OF HOUSEKEEPING STANDARDS ARE REQUIRED AROUND THE GUILLOTINE

THE MACHINE MUST BE TURNED OFF PRIOR TO CLEANING OFF CUTS FROM THE REAR OF THE MACHINE

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

THE LOCAL ISOLATOR MUST BE CLOSED, TAGGED AND LOCKED PRIOR TO ANY MAINTENANCE AND SERVICING WORK COMMENCING, REFER TO THE LOCKOUT & MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE

THE MACHINE MUST BE TURNED OFF PRIOR TO CLEANING OFF CUTS FROM BEHIND THE REAR OF THE MACHINE

KNOWLEDGE ASSESSMENT
(1) All guarding should be inspected prior to machine ?
  • Yes

(2) Why is it important to position the sheet so it can be clamped ?
  • To ensure the materials will not move or kick up whilst being cut
  • to align the material
(3) Why do you need to your hands clear of the clamp unit ?
  • To ensure you cannot crush you fingers or become entangled

(4) What is the purpose of the electronic eye ? ( More than one correct answer )
  • To level the machine
  • To prevent operation of the machine if the beam is broken
  • To prevent persons being in the injured by moving parts
(5) If you operate the foot pedal or the manual start what will happen ?
  • The clamp will lower

  • The guillotine blade will lower immediately
(6) What must you do before resetting the electronic eye ?
  • Nothing
  • Ensure no persons or objects are in the vicinity
(7) What do you need to do immediately after a cut if using the Manual control ?
  • Nothing the clamp will reset automatically
  • Raise the clamp to its home position
(8) When positioning materials on the Guillotine what should you do ? ( More than one correct answer)
  • Seek assistance if the material is heavy or awkward
