Major Tenancies are required to have the following:

  • Is there a store based fire risk assessment ?

  • Does the risk assessment outline evacuation procedures including warden duties which are in line with the Centre's evacuation strategy commensurate with the type of systems in place?

  • Does the risk assessment include the threat of fire posed by their operations to the Centre which addresses fire impairment notices including hot works controls and notifications ?

  • Is there a management representative with overall responsibility for fire safety?

  • Has that representative or any other staff attended Centre Management warden training?

  • What documents detail that tenancy staff are trained in emergency & evacuation procedures?

  • Have staff been nominated and trained in the use of fire extinguishers?

  • Has the retailer taken part in all evacuation drills?

  • Has there been any instances of poor compliance with the Centre based fire risk strategy including duties of wardens, notice of impairments and hot works?
